Reminders that actually reach you — and a web app that finally feels like an app

Mokkeli now reaches you by email and in the browser when something is due — until now that only worked in the phone app. The web app got one consistent layout with a menu on every page, tasks can finally be created there with due date, repetition and assignment, the calendar shows routines, and there's a dedicated family board for the tablet on your kitchen wall.

Reminders without the phone app

If you use Mokkeli on a computer, you previously got no reminder at all — push existed only in the app. From now on Mokkeli emails you about due tasks, routines and events, and in the browser you can additionally switch on notifications. Both are opt-in and can be turned on or off per area.

The web app is all of a piece

One layout for every page, the menu reachable everywhere, and the “New” buttons always sit in the same spot. The web task form finally knows due dates, repetition and assignment to household members, recipes can be edited on the computer, and after saving the page actually tells you it worked.

Kitchen tablet mode

A family board for that old tablet on the kitchen wall: today's meal, open tasks, who took on what — big enough to read in passing, without signing in every time you glance at it.

Finding recipes instead of searching

Recipe filters are new: a bar with category (breakfast, main, dessert …), tags grouped by theme, and a count on every filter so you can see what's left. Web and app now look the same — what you learned on one applies to the other.

The calendar knows routines too

Routines now show up in the calendar — in the app and on the web. Tapping an event or routine actually opens its detail view, and the “+N more” entries land on the right day instead of one day off.

The shopping list knows where an item came from

Items that came onto the list from a task now carry that task's name — while shopping you can see at a glance what you actually need it for. And the photo scan finally picks up amounts and units, not just the item name.

The companion knows your household

It now knows which products you keep, what's in your pantry and which allergies apply in your household — and answers accordingly instead of guessing generically. The daily briefings can be switched off for the whole household, and it no longer posts into empty or dormant households at all.

A new recipe catalog — 214 recipes, all with nutrition values

The recipes that come with Mokkeli have been completely replaced: 214 new family recipes, each with its own photo, a full ingredient list and step-by-step instructions. 145 of them are kid-friendly, 140 vegetarian, and 100 are on the table in 20 minutes of hands-on time or less. What's new is that every recipe carries nutrition values per portion — calories, protein, fat and carbs, calculated on the German federal food database. The old, automatically collected recipes are gone in return. Your own recipes stay untouched, as does anything you have of them in meal plans or collections.

Guides freely available

Six user guides — shopping lists, tasks & collections, recipes, meal planning, routines and the companion — are now public at mokkeli.de/academy. No sign-in needed, and easy to forward to someone you want to bring into your household.

Also fixed & improved

  • The link from the invitation email now works in the browser too, joining works with Google and Apple sign-in, and the email no longer shows an English placeholder when no name is set.
  • Tasks keep their order — newly created and just-saved ones no longer jump to the end of the list.
  • Checked-off items no longer vanish from under your hands; they stay visible, marked as done.
  • Maintenance: the due date is right in the list row, checking off asks for confirmation first, and the status is a calm colored dot instead of three barely distinguishable shades.
  • Notes in detail views render as formatted text, and links inside them are clickable.
  • Recipe images load noticeably faster, the recipe card carries its title above the image and the plan button at the bottom right.
  • The ingredient form in the editor is more compact — more ingredients fit on screen without scrolling.
  • The input field when adding to a shopping list is no longer hidden by the keyboard, and the task detail page no longer freezes afterwards.
  • Deleted recipes disappear from the list immediately, unfavorited ones from favorites — no reload needed.
  • The shopping list's photo upload dialog no longer sits behind the interface.
  • Deleted accounts no longer appear as member cards in the household.
  • Sync: a newly created shopping item no longer loses its product link when several devices sync at the same time.
  • In the app, tapping a tab reliably returns to that tab's home screen again, and the keyboard releases the tab bar.
You don't need to install any of this yourself — the web updates automatically, and the app gets the update via the store or TestFlight.
